Nahal Shafagh received her Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from Sonoma State University. While studying there she performed as a soloist in the University Chorus and gained experience playing lead roles in shows such as The Magic Flute and Carousel. Nahal was also lucky enough to become more involved in the community when she started performing at Cinnabar Theater (in Sonoma) and later began teaching at Cinnabar’s young artist program during the summer. She was also invited to sing in Operas put on by Sonoma City Opera. Nahal received a full scholarship to attend  (BASOTI) The Bay Area Summer Opera Program in San Francisco where she performed the role of Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutte, The Witch in Dido and Aeneas and Madame Purnell in Tartuffe.  Nahal studied with renowned vocal coaches Sylvia Anderson and Jose Melendes.

Nahal moved to LA in 2003 and began teaching at Kids on Stage which is a theater and performing arts program for kids ages 1-18. The program was voted #1 in LA Parent’s “Best of the Best”. She has taught piano at the New Institute of Music in Northridge and was awarded a scholarship to continue her music studies which earned her a Master’s Degree in Classical Vocal Performance from CSUN.
